ENGAGE A LAYWER

• Make an appointment with a legal professional.  Knowing your rights early will protect you and your assets.

PASSWORD & MAIL ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

• Change your passwords on any bank accounts, computers, phones & social media accounts;
• Organise for your mail to be redirected;
• Set up a new email account.

SOCIAL MEDIA

• Refrain from making any of the following on social media platforms;
• Announcements regarding your separation;
• Details of the separation;
• Negative remarks.

BANK ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

• Set up a new bank account for your wages to be transferred into;
• Make all joint accounts a joint signatory account or close htem altogether.

SUPERANNUATION & LIFE INSURANCES

• Consider reviewing your wills & power of attorneys with the view to revoke or amend them as soon as possible;
• Check your current superannuation & insruance policies and whot he beneficiaries are.

HOUSEHOLD ITEMS & DOCUMENTATION

• Gather any important documentation such as Birth & Marriage Certificates | Passports; and
• Remove and store Sentimental items | Jewellery | Valuables.  Do not sell these items, simply keep them safe.
