Biography

Dylan is a Special Counsel in our Corporate and Commercial team, with over a decade of professional experience at top tier and international law firms, working with clients both locally in Australia and globally.

He has significant experience leading transactions and advising all levels of government, listed companies, global brands and start-ups in areas including corporate advisory, mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts, procurement, intellectual property, information technology, fintech, environmental technology, media and entertainment, sport, life sciences, privacy, and competition and consumer law. Complementing his extensive private practice experience, Dylan has worked on secondment with a research university, an international retailer and one of the world’s largest banks.

Dylan is particularly experienced in implementing transactions, managing projects, advising on regulatory issues, and drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts. Whether in day to day “business as usual” matters, or in large transformational projects and strategic investments, he helps to anticipate any potential road blocks and mitigate the risks.

Dylan’s approach is to understand the business and strategic implications of complex matters and provide clients with high quality legal advice and smart commercial insights. He works with clients to ensure legal frameworks are aligned towards achieving their business objectives.

Earlier in his career, Dylan was judged a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 awards in the intellectual property category, which recognise the best lawyers in Australia under the age of 30.

Dylan holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of International Business, and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, Skills and Ethics, all from Griffith University. He is admitted to practice in Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

Key Experience

• Advising England and Wales Cricket Board on all aspects of implementing its commercial rights strategy, including international media rights deals with Sky, Star, ESPN, Fox Sports and the BBC

• Advising a transaction services provider (including digital wallets, commerce, remittance, recharge, rapid service connection, and business analytics) on the sale of a portion of its IP assets in five different countries for over $100 million

• Advising a telecommunications systems provider on commercialisation arrangements and proof of concept and supply contracts for provision of a low latency microwave telecommunications network for high frequency financial markets trading

• Advising an insurer on IP, IT and data protection issues and risk analysis and mitigation in relation to underwriting warranty and indemnity insurance for several large scale transactions, including the sale by a consortium of banks and building societies of the owner of a direct debit framework, payments scheme and ATM network

• Advising various clients on the development and implementation of various IT solutions as part of, for example, livestock supply chain, roadside assistance and customer relationship management transformation projects and associated consulting and managed services arrangements

• Advising various Australian Government, State Government and Local Government clients on projects to replace or upgrade core systems, including ERP and financial transactions systems, under both a regulated procurement framework (e.g. QITC and Procure IT) and free form contracting basis

• Advising an international medical imaging provider on a procurement bid process and contractual terms for an outsourced medical imaging and nuclear medicine services contract at a newly constructed tertiary public hospital

• Advising a medical devices company on the restructuring and renegotiation of distribution and public health tender arrangements for advanced wound therapeutics and regenerative medicine product offerings
