Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders make up a disproportionate number of incarcerated people in this country. While one of the principles of sentencing in our criminal justice system is punishment, longer-term rehabilitation is a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach with little regard to the special needs of Indigenous peoples.​

Some organisations are planning and building facilities to try and real the cycle of criminal behaviour and others are working on our youth to help them avoid falling into anti-social actions.
